Backpacking 101: Embrace strength and self-sufficiency.
Gear up for a multi-day adventure where you'll carry a pack and immerse yourself in the Ice Age Trail’s rugged beauty. Hike alongside glittering kettle lakes, through quiet forests, and across winding boardwalks as you hike approximately 25 miles over the course of the trip. No prior backpacking experience is needed—just an adventurous spirit! This experience is open to women NEW to Trailtessa backpacking trips.
To make this experience the most enjoyable as possible please note the following expectations:
- Attend a mandatory pre-trip planning workshop that will be held virtually (via Zoom) the end of July/early August.
- Attend an in-person or virtual pack-shake down, along with Trail Ready Meeting a week before the trip.
- Able to walk 12 miles a day (2-mile an hour pace), 3 days in a row.
- Must have gear or access to gear: tent, backpack, hiking boots, stove, etc. along with food for the trip.
- An open mind to learn from our backpacking leaders and each other.
- A commitment to put the necessary time into pre-trip planning and training.
- Must sign and return waiver.
- No whining, and there will be wine!
Exact trip itinerary will be shared with all registered attendees at the mandatory workshop.
